My portfolio, all in one place. If you're from a firm, start with the work.
B.Arch, fifth year · RV College of Architecture, Bengaluru
Hi, I'm Varun.
I'm in my final year of architecture in Bengaluru. I care a lot about process, and about how people actually use the places we design.
Looking for an internship in Singapore, Thailand or anywhere in South-East Asia
Five years, three words each
If I had to sum up each year of architecture school in three words, this is what I'd say.

Things I'm proud of
A short list. I'll keep adding to it.
- Called first at the final jurySemester 6, the culinary institute. The juror called it a thesis-level topic.See the project →
- A benchmark for the collegeOur class's documentation of Karenahalli village, in second semester, became the standard the college pointed to. Group work.See the project →
- The BIM portfolioA Barcelona Pavilion in Rhino, a few chairs, a jet and some posters. The faculty were really happy with it, and it's still my favourite set.See the project →
- Built an app on my ownAECORD is a marketplace for construction. I built the app myself and work on its strategy and operations.See the project →
- A firm, every semester breakI've worked at an architecture practice through every semester break so far.
- Posters for Dimensions 16The theme week poster, the studio panels and the competition posters for our college fest.See the project →
What changed in five years
Flip the switch.
There's far more process than I thought. People, the surroundings, the environment, and a long list of other things come before you design anything at all.
There are two ways to go about it. You can start with the form and justify the programme later, hoping people love it enough to use it. Or you can design every space around the person using it, the way a good restaurant decides how you move through it without you noticing. I lean towards the second. Food courts are efficient, but nobody has ever explored a food court.
“It just made you stop and think, this is why architecture is what it is.”
That was me in Valencia, on a college trip to Spain, standing in front of Calatrava's City of Arts and Sciences.
My colours
Orange, blue, black and white have been my colours for as long as I can remember. Blue is the constant one: classy, optimistic, a little subtle. Click one and this page will wear it.
Off the drawing board
Alongside studio, I build and run AECORD, so I spend a lot of time on the business side of construction. Outside of that, I've played pretty much every sport going.
- football
- basketball
- cricket
- table tennis
- badminton
What I'm looking for
An internship at a practice of around 20 to 50 people, where I can work closely on design and see how real projects are run. South-East Asia first, Singapore or Thailand.
